Falling for the Enemy Love Inspired Historical Naomi Rawlings 9780373282968 Books

During the Napoleonic Wars, English Lord Gregory Halston sneaks and bribes his way into the heart of France to rescue his brother from one of Napoleon’s most loathsome prisons. When his French associates double cross the English nobleman, he must strike out on his own with his now desperately ill brother. With the countryside on the alert, a trek to the English Channel seems hopeless until Gregory stumbles upon Danielle Belanger traveling with her younger brother. Danielle has no reason to help and every reason to turn the English in to authorities. But something about this Englishman earns her respect, yet to help him puts her life at risk—and maybe something more.

Falling for the Enemy features feisty and remarkable characters along with a compelling plot and unexpected turns. In this third book in the Belanger series, the author again keeps the pages flying with excellent historical setting and details, along with some great inspirational romance. In this story, the egalitarian ideals of the new France collide with hierarchical English society, providing interesting insight into this titanic struggle. Ascending the spiritual realm, the ideals of equality, forgiveness, love and compassion are also poignantly illustrated. Another great read by this author.

Falling for the Enemy Love Inspired Historical Naomi Rawlings 9780373282968 Books Reviews

Falling for the Enemy is a wonderful historical romance. I hadn't read any of Naomi Rawlings' Books before, but I will definitely check out some of her others. The setting was interesting and original, as was the actual story. The characters were also interesting and creative. The story line drew me in and kept my interest throughout. This is a Christian fiction book, but I don't feel it was overly preachy. The only thing that bothered me a little, is that the ending seemed a little rushed after all that they had gone through. Maybe it was because I wanted the story to go on a little longer. I would definitely recommend this to others who enjoy historical Christian fiction.
France, 1805

Book 3 in the Belanger series but can be a stand-alone--deals with Danielle Belanger, who is previously mentioned in The Soldier's Secret.

Once again, I was captivated from the very beginning. Danielle and her brother, Serge, are traveling when they come upon a stranded group of Englishmen. Lord Gregory Halston is determined to save his brother and return to England even if Danielle is unwilling to guide them to the coast.

Danger, suspense and internal struggles among the hero/heroine help keep the plot moving. The author choose Galatians 328 as the inspiration for this book and it is evident throughout the story. I did feel the end wrapped a little too quickly but overall this was an enjoyable and interesting read.

Clean Christian historical book with great characters!
After reading "The Soldier's Secrets", I couldn't wait to read Danielle's story in "Falling For The Enemy". As with the previous book, her character really leaps off the pages. Fast forward nine years, Danielle is still brave, strong, enigmatic, and loyal to her family. She throws knives, hunts, and tracks animals with finesse. It's these qualities that Lord Gregory Halston finds useful and intriguing when he happens upon her in the deep woods of France. Their cooperation is crucial if Gregory and his brother are to escape across the English Channel.

This story is non-stop action! Their trek through the woods is fraught with danger, distrust, and forbidden romance. Lord Gregory's emaciated brother is near death which lends urgency to the situation. Danielle's resourcefulness in keeping everyone safe from gendarmes (French police) was exceptional. I really think Danielle and her brother Serge carried the story. At times, Gregory, his valet, and his brother's friend Lord Kessler behaved like blockheads! Ultimately, this was a wonderful book to read! I would highly recommend it especially for those interested in the Napoleonic Wars!
I really loved it it's a great entertainments.
Love all of Rawlings books. This early series of hers was well done.
the book was interesting and kept my attention.
Loved this book! Kept me intrigued all the way. I love the way Naomi help to explain the struggle between the French and the English. It is thought provoking and she helps the reader understand both sides
