fantastically funny
I really enjoyed this book. The characters are quirky and funny and unique. It really is a very different place )
Hannah Gordon brings this story of life in the Hebrides to life. Something one can listen to over and over again. Highly recommended.
The book is written with a lot of humour.
She describes the siuations and habits of the people in the little village Bruach on one of the islands of the Hebrides where she went for rest on advice from her doctor. She liked it so well, that she bought her own croft and kept a cow and chickens. She even cultivated a piece of land .
These books are very entertaining and lighthearted. I have read the whole set and loved every one of them.
Just one more in my collection of Beckwiths. I first encountered these books as a kid (more years ago than I care to remember). Like all her semifictional books on her time in the Hebrides, it combines a lot of funny with a little sad. A good mix.
Wonderful book to pick up and be absorbed in the day to day adventures of the Folks Lillian Beckwith created.
